The STEM Summit provides professional learning opportunities for teachers and educational staff members in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics taught by experts and specialists in their fields.

Registration is now open in pdEnroller and here in SCHED. Sessions are being added daily until the summit starts in August.

With more than 70% of Washington state’s household-sustaining wage jobs requiring a STEM degree or STEM literacy along with recent research showing how students rely on teachers for postsecondary preparation and STEM identity, we must pay more attention to teacher pathways and the STEM teaching workforce in particular. Using large-scale data, researchers from the University of Washington, with support from Washington STEM, have started to understand the last few years’ large-scale exodus of teachers from the profession. In this keynote, we will dive into workforce data, teacher turnover data, and understand the inextricable link between our state’s future and the health and wellness of educators and their pathways.
